I'm Alairis Hamilton—an author, educator, researcher, and nonprofit founder who believes stories have the power to change not only how we see the world, but how we see one another.

My work explores identity, memory, recognition, resilience, and hope through speculative fiction, memoir, journalism, children's literature, and educational innovation. Whether I'm writing a novel, teaching adult learners, or creating books for children through the Prairie Paws Project, I'm drawn to the moments when people discover who they are—and the choices that shape who they become.

I serve as an Instruction Support Specialist and Adjunct Instructor with NexStep Alliance and WSU Tech in Kansas, where I teach adult education, support GED students, and develop innovative approaches to learning for individuals facing educational barriers. My work has included creating adaptive instructional methods for students with visual impairments and other disabilities, grounded in the belief that every learner deserves an opportunity to succeed.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Ashland University and a Master of Professional Studies in Social Entrepreneurship from Fort Hays State University. I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Leadership Studies at the University of the Cumberlands, where my research explores how people preserve identity, agency, and meaning within systems that are not always designed around their humanity.

I'm the author of the Continuity Cycle novels, including Null and Observer, the memoir Letter of Recommendation, and the founder of the Prairie Paws Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing books free of cost to children in shelters, hospitals, foster care, and families experiencing crisis. My journalism has also appeared in the Prison Journalism Project, where I write about education, incarceration, and second chances.
